Nessy is amotivational games CD  (Windows and Vista compatible*) to help children aged 7-14 improve spelling and reading at home.can be followed independently or used to provide support for the Learning Programme, (this is a teaching resource used by many schools and home educators). This CD is a scaled down version of the full Learning Programme but is also a complete computer game that follows a storyline where skills improve as they grow their own pet Nessy.

The story takes children on a journey to the distant mountains of Ness to hatch a mystery egg and grow their own pet monster. As Nessy grows they are led through a series of motivating games that follow a structured reading and spelling programme devised by specialist teachers at the Bristol Dyslexia Centre.  Nessy is suitable for all children including children who are struggling with reading and spelling and children who are dyslexic.

Homework mode includes a recording facility that allows children to record their own words to play with the computer games. In the Games Arcade parents and teachers can access 1200 pre-recorded words plus many graded sentences, so that they can set a spelling or reading game as homework. The pre-recorded lists include key words from the National Literacy Strategy.

Auditory Learners: Here the words and then click Nessy to hear the words again. Great sound effects for the games and the spelling screens to keep attention on task. Homework mode allows children to add words by typing the words and recording the words. Children will learn that speaking clearly will help them hear and spell the words correctly.

*Nessy has been fully tested for Vista compatibility and the only known issue is that when using the recording studio, Vista may pop up a false error message saying you can't record sound. This message can be ignored as the sound studio works fine.
